Piano lessons at Encore are for all ages and all abilities.
If you are a complete beginner looking for a new hobby,

What is the youngest age you work with?
We have found that it is more to do with the individual rather than setting an age restriction. If a younger child is enthusiastic enough and can engage in a lesson we are more than happy to work with them.
Do you do lessons for complete beginners?
We work with all levels and abilities at different paces. If this is something that you want to learn to do, please don't be put off by the thought of not being able to play initially. Besides, it is what we are here for.
What aspects of Piano playing would we cover?
Your teacher will work with you to build and improve technical skills. This involves finding your way around the Piano by practicing scales and arpegios and getting your hands and fingers in the correct positions building finger strenth. You will continue to learn more techniques as you develop. You will also learn to read sheet music as part of your lesson and explore various styles, genres and time signitures. Both contemporary and classical music can be taught including grades should you wish to do so.
How much are lessons?
Lessons are either
£20 for 30 mins
£25 for 45 mins
£30 for 1 hour
Either weekly or fortnightly depending on preference and availability.
What is the cancellation period?
The policy for holidays and cancellations is 1 weeks notice. If you are not able to give a weeks notice, sometimes there is an alternitive slot available. If there isn't an available slot, the lesson fee will still need to be covered.
Can parents sit in on lessons?
Yes there is plenty of room for people to sit in on a lesson. Some children prefer to be alone due to feelings of shyness but this can be discussed with your child.
Can I come for confidence / well-being purposes only?
Yes of course! Music is great for releasing endorphins and can help to reduce stress and process emotions.
I wanted to learn how to play the Piano. I didn't want to take grades as it was just for fun. I cant recommend Rob highly enough. fantastic place and professional.
